Loudoun County, Va. — For this boys basketball season, the good folks over at LoCoSports have decided to let me do our boys basketball rankings. What were they thinking? I’m not sure, but for this season, every other week, you can expect me to make some readers happy and some readers very very angry. Of course, if you’re into hard numbers, check out the full Cedar Run District, Potomac District, and Dulles District standings. Sterling, Va. — You can say a lot of things about Anthony Eifler but passive isn’t one of them. The second-year head coach of the Dominion boys basketball team is one of the more reserved coaches in the county, but he’s got the most important skill a coach needs. Leesburg, Va. — The second the ball was loose, the entire gym held its breath. They knew what was going to happen. John Champe High School senior forward Tyler Savage gathered the ball and with nobody in his way, looked towards the rim: his sole target. Leesburg, Va. — On October 11, the Woodgrove Wolverines were shut out by the Briar Woods Falcons. It was a defeat that stuck with the Wolverines as they entered their VHSL Region 5C semifinal, hosting the very same Falcons team. This time, the script was flipped, as the Wolverines knocked off the Falcons, 33-21, to earn them a berth into the VHSL Region 5C championship game against the Stone Bridge Bulldogs. Their turnaround was aided by the phenomenal play of one receiver and an incredible defensive game plan that was executed extremely well. [adrotate banner=”38″] Tyler Blizzard posted an explosive…

Leesburg, Va. — No football game is decided by just one play, and the VHSL Region 5C quarterfinal between No. 5 Potomac Falls and No. 4 Riverside was no different. The Panthers prevailed in a 14-7 battle that sent them on to the next round, but most, if not all, conversation around this game is going to center around what happened with 42 seconds left in the game. Riverside had the ball at their own 30-yard line. They snapped it to their freshman quarterback Will Lind who threw it backward (or so he thought) to senior running back, receiver, quarterback,…
