Gymnastics: Riverside Gymnast Marisa Cisneros Named January 2019 Athlete of the Month

Loudoun County, Va. – In an effort to better recognize student-athletes who positively affect high school sports in Loudoun County, Power Train and LoCoSports have teamed up to announce Riverside High School freshman Marisa Cisneros as the Power Train and LoCoSports Athlete of the Month for January 2019.

In her first year at Riverside, Cisneros has shined for the Rams, including winning the all-around at the Dulles District championships on January 31.

“Marisa has done gymnastics basically all her life,” Riverside head coach Alexandra Hayes said. “She is strong and has great body awareness when completing her skills on each event.”

In winning the district all-around title, Cisneros also led the young Rams to a third place team finish.

“Marisa has a very positive impact on the team. She encourages her teammates to push themselves and get new skills or push past ‘mental blocks,'” Hayes said. “She challenges the other girls to try something new, and she has a positive presence at practices and meets.”

The Power Train and LoCoSports Athlete of the Month is selected from nominations based on student-athletes having great success, hustle, work ethic, attitude and heart.

Power Train invites all athletes and teammates of the month to either of their Loudoun locations for a free month of training.
