    Hall of Fame: Loudoun County Announces 2016 Class to Raiders’ Athletic Hall of Fame

    Reginald Evans, Basketball (1967)

    Leesburg (September 19, 2016) – Loudoun County High School has announced its Athletic Hall of Fame Class for 2016 recognizing ten athletes, one coach and two contributors.

    The Raiders’ Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on September 23 at 5 p.m. in the Loudoun County High School auditorium and is open to the public.

    The Inductees

    Marie Bolton, Basketball and Softball (2000)

    Marie Bolton earned nine varsity letters during her career at Loudoun County High School. She was named all-district in both softball and basketball. Bolton scored 1,219 points during her basketball career at Loudoun County. The Loudoun Times-Mirror named Bolton their Female Athlete of the Year in 2000.

    David DiMillio, Wrestling and Soccer (1984)

    David DiMillio earned seven varsity letters in wrestling and soccer during his career at Loudoun County High School.  A multi-year all-district selection in boys soccer, DiMillio went on to earn four varsity letters at Virginia Tech in soccer as well as one letter in wrestling for the Hokies.

    Kristen DiMillio, Tennis, Track, Soccer and Volleyball (1991)

    Kristen DiMillio earned an incredible 15 letters in four sports during her career at Loudoun County High School. She was honored with multiple all-district, all-region, and all-state honors and attended the University of Virginia on a soccer scholarship.

    Derrick Ellison, Baseball (1996)

    Derrick Ellison played baseball for Loudoun County High School where he struck out 79 batters in 39 innings as a senior.  Ellison went on to pitch at Longwood University and then played professional baseball for eleven years in the minor leagues.

    Reginald Evans, Basketball (1967)

    Reginald “Reggie” Evans starred on the basketball court for both Douglass High School and Loudoun County High School. Averaging 20 points a game for his career, he earned multiple all-district and all-state honors at both schools.  Evans finished his career with 1,600 points with a game-high of 47.

    Kevin Grigsby, Tennis (1991)

    Kevin Grigsby played tennis for the Raiders and served as the No. 1 doubles and singles player for Loudoun County High School during his career.  Grisby went on to play at Delaware State University where he was a three-time MVP and two-time captain.

    James Kidwell, Football and Basketball (1959)

    James M. “Jimmy” Kidwell earned eight varsity letters at Loudoun County High School in football and basketball. Kidwell then went on to serve for 34 years in the Leesburg Police Department – including 27 years as Chief of Police.

    Shari Mayr, Softball (1994)

    Shari Mayr was a standout pitcher on the Loudoun County High School softball team.  Mayr went 9-0 for the 1993 state runner-up team and capped off her career with three no-hitters as a senior while striking out 115 batters and carrying a 1.10 ERA.  Mayr continued her career at Wingate University.

    Susan Moxley, Basketball and Softball (1979)

    Susan Moxley earned eight varsity letters in two sports during her career at Loudoun County High School. Moxley was named all-district in each sport twice and was captain of the Northwestern District champion Raider basketball team in 1978. The Loudoun Times-Mirror named Moxley their Female Athlete of the Year in 1979.

    Joanna Penn, Softball (1993)

    Joanna Penn was a standout softball player at Loudoun County High School. In her senior year, Penn had 138 strikeouts to 12 walks for a .073 ERA while also batting .442 for the state runner-up Raiders.

    Pat McManus, Head Football Coach (1991-2006)

    Coach Pat McManus became the head football coach in 1991 where he quickly developed Loudoun County High School into a power behind his “wing T” offense.  McManus compiled 87 wins over his career, highlighted by a perfect 10-0 record in 1996.

    Robert K. Belote, Contributor

    Dr. Robert Belote is a 1967 graduate of Loudoun County High School where he lettered in golf and basketball. Belote served the Raiders’ athletic community for 25 years as the team physician, attending all home and away football games offering free and expert medical care to the athletes.

    Alan Smith, Contributor

    Mr. Alan Smith taught math at Loudoun County High School for 38 years. During his tenure, Smith became the ticket taker and gate manager for all Raider athletic events – a position he manned faithfully his entire career.
