South Riding (May 19, 2016) — Freedom High School senior Bradley Lau has made a commitment to play baseball at D3 Penn State-Altoona starting in the 2016-2017 academic year.

“I chose PSA because I will be earning a great education while also getting a lot of playing time at the college level,” Lau said.

DSTLau — in his second year in the varsity program at Freedom under head coach Mark Wrighte — has been in love with the sport ever since his first game.

“My dad got me started with baseball, when he took me to my first baseball game. I fell in love with the sport and never stopped playing since,” Lau said.  “I have to thank my parents for motivating me to do better, after all they’ve done for me. I also want to thank my pitching coaches for working with me all these years to help me improve.”

The D3 Lions of PSA are coached by Joe Piotti, and are coming off of an 11-29 season missing out on the Allegheny Mountain Athletic Conference playoffs.

“[At PSA] I hope to make a big impact helping out the pitching staff and adding depth to the lineup,” Lau said.

Lau doesn’t have to worry about deciding on a school for the next four years, however, his No. 2 Eagles head into a Conference 22 tournament match up against rival No. 3 John Champe High School on Friday, May 20 after wrapping up a 10-9 season including a 5-3 mark in the conference.

“Hopefully, we can finish this season strong and make a deep run into the playoffs,” Lau said.
