Ashburn (April 22, 2016) – Stone Bridge High School junior Becca Madgwick has verbally committed to continue her volleyball career at Randolph-Macon College starting the 2017-2018 academic year.

“It feels great knowing I am going to be somewhere I love,” Madgwick said. “I fell in love with the campus, the coaching staff and the team; it had a great family feel. I just knew it was the right college for me.”

Cheers Banner Nov 2015Randolph-Macon College is a private liberal arts school located in Ashland, Virginia. At this 116-acre school you can find up to 34 majors and over 80 student run clubs.

“I will definitely bring leadership and a positive attitude to RMC,” the 5-foot-10 middle blocker said. “I cannot wait to start my future there as a Yellow Jacket!”

MadgwickQuoteThe Division III Lady Yellow Jackets ended their season this year 28-8 and undefeated in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. RMC is led by 14-year head coach Bill Rogers.

“Volleyball overall just makes me smile,” Madgwick said. “I attended a few clinics with Seng Chiu and I knew it was the sport for me. I can’t stay away from the ball. I am always outside passing with my family, with myself or against the wall if I am not at practice.”

Madgwick plays for Stone Bridge High School located in Ashburn, Virginia and ended their 2015 season strong at 25-3 and also won the VHSL 5A state championship.

“I am beyond happy with the outcome from this past high school season,” Madgwick said, “After working hard all season, it felt great to hold the state trophy in the end. Next year we will come out strong again and surprise a lot of people.”

MadgwickQuote2Madgwick isn’t only a part of the Stone Bridge varsity volleyball team, but also a member of Dulles Volleyball. She plays for Dulles 17-1 led by head coach Rob Sell.

“Becca has had a few injuries during club season, but she never once complained,” Sell said. “I felt she came back even more strong and versatile. It is a testament to her dedication and maturity to understand what she needed to do to get herself ready and contribute to the team.”

While Madgwick contributes to her team’s success, she noted that her team contributes to her success.

“My team as a whole are my role models,” Madgwick said. “They push me to do better every day and I am so thankful for that.”
