Leesburg (February 5, 2016) — On February 3, Heritage High School senior Cole Miller signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his football career at Division I FCS Georgetown University starting in the 2016-2017 school year.

“It’s a really great feeling to know where [I’ll] be attending for the next four years,” the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Miller said. “The recruiting process can be a roller coaster at times, so it’s relieving to have it come to a close. Knowing I’ll be at Georgetown and playing football has been a dream come true.”

LSTC ad 2016At Georgetown, Miller will play for third-year head coach Rob Sgarlata – who is a Hoya alumnus and former assistant coach. Having played under third-year head coach Reed Prosser at Heritage during his senior campaign, Miller is used to coming in during the start of new program traditions.

“I hope to add to the offense, [specifically]the great receiver corp and use my size and work ethic to better the team in whatever ways I can,” Miller said. I just want to continue to get better.”

While at Georgetown, Miller plans to major in either business finance or business management. He mentioned he felt that it was the best place he could attend for his career path.

“I picked Georgetown because of its high standard of academic excellence and prestige,” Miller said. “I felt like being close to home was perfect because I’m really close with my family. I enjoyed all the coaches and players I met on my visit, and I could see myself being a part of the great program that coach Sgarlata has created.”

In 2015, Miller helped lead the Pride to a school record 6-0 start and to a 6-4 regular season- which was good enough for the No. 12 seed in the VHSL 4A North region.

He would finish the season with 35 catches for 720 yards and 11 touchdowns.Following his senior year, Miller was named first team all-Conference 21B, first team all-VHSL 4A West region, second team all-VHSL 4A state and honorable mention Cheers and LoCoSports all-LoCo.

The Logansport, Indiana-native mentioned that even though he started playing pretty young, moving to Leesburg during the summer before his sophomore year is really when he got serious about playing after high school.

“I wanted to play with my brother one last time so my sophomore year I came out and fell in love with it,” Miller said. “Coach [Reed] Prosser told me I could be a special player and go places with the sport and that motivated me to improve my skills all I could. He was a really great mentor for me with football and helped me out a ton with the recruiting process.  Along with all the support I got from my whole family, teammates and friends it caused me to really want a future for myself with football.”
