Sterling (October 11, 2015) — On October 8, after a 90-minute weather delay, Heritage High School (6-0) went to Park View High School (2-5) looking to remain undefeated and tie their combined win total for the first two seasons with Reed Prosser as the head coach. The Pride would use five first half scores to cruise past the Patriots, 54-3.

“I was really pleased with how we came out,” Prosser said. “With the big delay, I thought our kids were exceedingly efficient in the first quarter.”

With 8:17 left in the first quarter, quarterback Alex Carlin found receiver Cole Miller for a 24-yard touchdown. The Pride would not look back as Carlin would throw for three more touchdowns and add one on the ground.

“[Carlin] played well,” Prosser said. “Alex craves perfection, and he wants to get better. He made plays and did a great job as usual. He really understands that to be the best he can be he needs to be perfect, and he’s embracing that challenge.”

The Pride defense completely shut the Patriots down allowing under 80 total yards with quite a few tackles for losses and an interception by safety Aaron Maisus — his second on the season — to help seal the Pride’s 6-0 start.

In the fourth quarter, Heritage put in their reserves and played a Patriot-esque single wing formation.

With just over five minutes left in the game, the Pride got inside the Patriot 10-yard line when Heritage opted to hand starting center Cam George the football which he would then carry three yards to give the Pride a 48-3 lead.

“I’ve been playing center for four years,” George said. “This week in practice, I was taking snaps in that same package in scout team, and they told me to go in so I went.“

On October 16, the Heritage Pride will host the Woodgrove Wolverines in Leesburg at 7 p.m. while the Park View Patriots will rest up with their bye week.
