(November 14, 2014) – Loudoun Valley High School senior Ciara Donohue finished runner up at the VHSL 3A state cross country meet at the Great Meadow Cross Country Course in The Plains on Nov. 14. Donohue’s time of 18:06 was just two seconds slower than Blacksburg High School senior Bonnie Angermeier’s state championship time of 18:04.
Donohue and the Vikings placed second as a team, while Angermeier helped Blacksburg to the team title. John Champe High School finished eighth in the team competition.
Blacksburg senior Jennifer Fleming (18:27), Western Albemarle senior Annie Taylor (18:50), Blacksburg sophomore Annie Kay Combs (18:52), Blacksburg sophomore Samantha Marin (18:53), Hidden Valley junior Bailey Roberts (18:54) and Blacksburg senior Emily Beatty (19:12) rounded out the top-eight.
Loudoun Valley sophomore Kimberly Donohue brought in another top-ten finish for the Vikings with a time of 19:14.
Rock Ridge High School sophomore Flora Grainger finished just behind the top-ten in eleventh with a time of 19:17.
