Boys Cross Country: VHSL 3A State Meet Results – Loudoun Valley Junior Andrew Hunter Sets New Meet Record


(November 14, 2014) – Loudoun Valley High School junior Andrew Hunter set a new VHSL state cross country meet record (14:41) as he won the VHSL 3A state cross country title at the Great Meadow Cross Country Course in The Plains on Nov. 14.

Hunter’s time was six seconds better than Chantilly High School graduate Sean McGorty’s former record time of 14:47 which he ran at the VHSL AAA state meet in 2012.

Hunter and the Vikings placed fifth as a team, while Brentsville District High School took the team title. Blacksburg High School – which won the girls’ title – Lafayette High School and Western Albemarle High School placed second, third and fourth respectively.

Western Albemarle junior Gannon Willcutts (15:35), Alleghany senior Gaige Kern (15:56), New Kent junior Andrew Carlin (16:08), Blacksburg junior Sam Teller (16:09), Western Albemarle junior Trevor Stutzman (16:10), Brentsville junior Jack McNally (16:11) and Blacksburg sophomore Jacob McCoy (16:12) rounded out the top-eight.
